Tales & Tunes Weekly Story Hour

Stories, songs, and games for young children and their caregivers.
Sponsored by the Friends of the M.N. Spear Memorial Library and the Union 28 Community Network for Children.

Thursday, February 28th,
6-9 pm, Leslie’s gourmet kitchen

Gluten Free, Locally Inspired Savory Suppers with Leslie Cerier - Local chef, educator and cookbook author will lead participants in a cooking class in her gourmet kitchen. Participants will learn to create gluten free, locally inspired, simple and delicious recipes.
There is a $15 per person fee for this program, due at registration. Please register at the Library. Checks should be made out to FSML.  

 This program is supported in part by a grant from the Shutesbury Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Drop in Knitting group - Facilitated by local knitting expert Laura Walton. Learn the basics or get support for on-going projects. Ages twelve and up. Bring your own knitting supplies.

Shutesbury Reading Streak Kickoff! Join a community of readers, adult and child pairs who pledge to read aloud together for 10 minutes a day for 10 days! Registration 5:30-7:30 Buy one/Get one free Scholastic Book Fair 5:30- 7:30 A Book in Hand PJ Story Time 6:00 pm

Documentary Screening of Chicago 10 - Archival footage, animation, and music are used to look back at the protests, government response and the ensuing trial of eight anti-war protesters, following the 1968 Democratic National Convention. A special guest who participated in the protests will join us for a discussion following the movie.

Shutesbury Reading Streak Celebration! Join a group of friends and neighbors who successfully completed the Shutesbury Reading Streak – 2013! Refreshments will be served!

Wednesday, April 24th,

Poetry Reading featuring three local poets. Mark Hart will be reading from his new award winning book, Boy Singing to Cattle. Also featured will be Shutesbury poets Janet MacFadyen and Emily Bloch.
